Two artists walked into a bar…

No literally, except it was an açaí bar. Welcome to the oddest founding story you’ll read today.

On one hand, there’s Camren Bicondova, a professional dancer-turned-actor who’s boasted a career in entertainment for over a decade—best known for her role as Selina Kyle in the hit tv show “Gotham.” On the other hand, there’s Alejandro Soto— An entrepreneur & screenwriter/director who has thrived in building businesses during (and after) a historic global pandemic. So the question is BEGGING to be asked: What are two artists doing in the açaí business?

Well, like every founding story worth its salt, it all started with a problem…As creatives in Los Angeles, we always find ourselves looking for delicious food that’s quick and energizing (without a consequence of a sugar crash). Naturally, açaí bowls came to mind, but there was an issue ... the “açaí” was watered down, bright purple, icy, blended “superfood” just posing as açaí.

We realized soon after that the inspirational pinterest posts were true all along—you know, “Be the change you want to see in the world”—So, we were at a crossroads: Either we continue complaining and eating what we call “subparfood” or we could do something about it.

You see, if we can be candid with you for a second (and if you read this far), starting a business is difficult. It’s the journey of a lifetime that takes a lot of time and life out of you. But it wasn’t until we were faced with these questions:

If we lose, who loses? If we win, who wins? And the answers were brilliantly simple:

If we lose, only we take a loss. But if we win, our family, friends, the people we get to serve, those we get to employ, our city, also win.

So, we decided in the spring of 2022 that we would invest our time and resources into bringing the most authentic açaí to the city of LA. And now, here we are.

That Starbucks guy said it best:

We’re not in the açaí business serving people, we’re in the people business serving açaí”
